Training Schedule - 2010 - 2011

This program is jointly sponsored by Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Office of Community Services and The Francine and Herbert Tobin Foundation.  The Listeners/Oyentes Program has been servicing students by providing them with special one-on-one attention since 1972.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer Listener/Oyente must register and attend one of the training sessions listed on the schedule.  Once the training has been completed, the volunteer selects a school that is geographically convenient for the weekly listening sessions.  The Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Volunteer Program conducts fingerprint check for all Level 2 volunteers.  Listeners/Oyentes are considered Level 2 volunteers, and require a fingerprint background check before becoming a Listener/Oyente volunteer.

TO REGISTER, PLEASE CALL MS. FRANCINE TOBIN, CHAIRPERSON OF THE LISTENERS/ OYENTES PROGRAM AT (305) 935-0045, OR THE OFFICE OF COMMUNITY SERVICES AT (305) 995-1439.

In addition to attending a 3-hour training, volunteer Listeners/Oyentes must attend a minimum of 4 on-going workshops in order to remain as an active Listener/Oyente.  These workshops are offered monthly throughout the school year.  A separate schedule of the monthly on-going workshops will be distributed at the training sessions.

If you have any questions, please call (305) 935-0045 or send email to nfo@listenersprogram.org.

Listeners Program Training will not take place as scheduled when schools are closed due to inclement weather
